Irene van de Mheen

Wall drawing for a series of interventions on different locations in Düsseldorf (called “Sketch Matinee”) I made an intervention in a painter’s studio. The outlines of the removed paintings were still visible; as a reaction I drew these rectangles with coloured lines. These coloured rectangles were copied and piled upon each other in a different shape on the opposite wall. It suggested a monumental three-dimensional space being just surface. The lines are brightly coloured and hand cut which emphasizes the drawing-like, playful character of the work.
